Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources

Agricultural Education proposes to meet the educational, food, and fiber requirements of a global community. Our goal is to provide instruction in technology, production, environmental stewardship, agricultural literacy, and leadership to our students.

Health Science

Health Science is a two-year skills program that introduces students to health careers, the basic health sciences, and basic health care skills. In year one, students learn about basic health care skills, legal and ethical health issues, medical terminology, body systems, and health care. In Health Science II, the primarily emphasis is to engage students in advanced skills while gaining an in depth knowledge of health care careers, including job shadowing experiences in health care facilities.

The Culinary Arts Pathway includes classroom and hands-on experiences that will prepare students for employment or continuing education in the food service industry.

Welding

Introduction to Welding (Year 1)

This course focuses on the NCCER Learning Series Core and SMAW. Students will leave the class with a firm foundation of knowledge in the areas of employability skills, safety, and basic tool knowledge. Additionally, students will learn Oxyfuel Cutting fundamentals. Students will cover proper equipment setup, safety measures, and correct welding techniques.

 

Advanced Welding (Year 2)

This course focuses on specialized welding symbols used in blueprints and drawings as well as PAC, CAC, and advanced techniques used in SMAW. Additionally, this course will offer students the opportunity to examine GMAW and FCAW. Additionally, students will learn about GTAW.  Students will learn safety measures, setup procedures, and welding techniques for each type of welding.

Teacher Academy I

Course Description: Teacher Academy I

Teacher Academy I is an entry-level course. Students gain foundational competencies related to students as learners, planning and assessing teaching, teaching strategies, and communication skills. Students receive hands-on field experiences.

 

Teacher Academy II

Teacher Academy II provides students with the opportunity to gain advanced skills needed to enhance them as learners, teachers, and communicators. Students receive advanced hands-on field experiences.

Enhancement Courses (9-12)

Exploring Computer Science

Exploring Computer Science is a high school introduction to the world of computer science and problem solving. Coursework focuses on both computer science content and computational practices, and units utilize a variety of tools and platforms. The units include instruction on the following topics: human computer interaction; problem solving; web design; programming; computing & data analysis; robotics.

Work-based Learning

Work-based learning provides students with opportunities to connect what they learn in the classroom with authentic work experiences. Work-based learning experiences enable students to practice and improve soft skills needed in the workplace. Students are employed by local and surrounding business and industry. Students do not have to be enrolled in Career and Technical Programs to participate in Work-based Learning; however, students must be a junior or senior to enroll in the course.

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

The Information Technology (Cisco Certified Network Associate) curriculum consists of two 2-credit courses, which should be completed in the following sequence: 

Cisco Certified Network Associate I

This course teaches IP routing implementation, OSPF routing configuration, access control list configuration, EIGRP routing configuration, DHCP server configuration, NAT configuration, router security, and high availability configuration. Students learn to perform real-world tasks using the command line interface on Cisco routing devices. Students should be prepared to take the CCNA Certification exam in routing at the end of the course.

 

Cisco Certified Network Associate II

This course teaches switch setup and configuration, switch Interface Configuration, VLAN configuration, TCP/IP configuration, spanning tree configuration, interVLAN routing, switch security, and EtherChannel configuration. Students learn to perform real-world tasks using the command line interface on Cisco switching devices. This course is designed to prepare students for the CCNA Certification exam in switching. This course should be taken only after students successfully pass Information Technology Associate I.

Contemporary Health

In this course of study, emphasis is placed on personal, social, and mental health in today’s society.  It includes instruction on human growth and development, disease prevention and control, substance abuse and prevention, community and environmental health, nutrition and wellness, and safety and first aid.  Students will be provided with instruction that is clearly relevant to today’s rapidly changing world.  

Family and Consumer Science

Family Dynamics is a course that develops skills related to personal, family, and social issues. It includes instruction in dimensions of adolescent development, family decisions and responsibilities, social decisions and responsibilities, and management of family systems in today’s society.

Nutrition and Wellness Nutrition is a course that develops skills related to proper nutrition and the concept of overall wellness. It includes instruction in nutrition, exercise and diet, healthy food choices, meal preparation, and components for a healthy lifestyle.
